THE LEAVES ARE BEGGING

THE LEAVES ARE BEGGING

When the morning winds blow,
my heart hovers and rests with pain.
Across my windows, I see an ocean of plastics making the flora and fauna wail,
and ridiculing our progress-
manifesting our inhumanity as humans

The storms of our ignorance are retaliating and  us off to the deserts of pain,
no homes, sleeping afloat on waters.

I know it takes a prison to be a prisoner.
We are prisoners of their mistakes,
paying the price we didn’t chase for,
heavy sentences of life flooding
and extreme heats.
Let’s amend our paths, reaffirm our oaths to protect and care for our environment.
