Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, direct, or intervene in social, political, economic, or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good.
“I do not want to get involved in political matters” what you’re saying is you do not care about your rights enough and are comfortable having someone dictate the way you live your life. No one is asking you to place yourself in the way of danger or go to the extreme all we are asking is for the bare minimum. Like tweet retweet repost and say a prayer or two sign a petition. There’s a lot going on in the world especially in Africa our motherland. We are opening our eyes to Our WORTH, the fight against inhuman practices is growing bigger by the day. Human trafficking, xenophobia, genocide, corruption, police brutality to mention but a few these are some of the viruses eating up the place many of us call HOME!! It is absolutely sickening and we must take a stand. The silence from regional bodies like the African Union and United Nations is deafening as people die like dogs in the streets. It’s the hypocrisy for me!! As they are quick to rise up when Western top dogs bark and say jump these bodies say how high. You enjoy the gifts that come from Africa the culture, the nature, the food, use it as a basis for your music but speaking about the injustices is where you draw the line. It’s the audacity for me!!
Activism is the way to go it’s time to speak up protest and do everything in our power to speak up. It can be done behind screens on media platforms, personal blogs, media houses broadcasting it and whatever way we can create awareness and expose the ruthless dictatorial leaders for what they are. While doing this we must not forget ourselves or let ourselves get lost in the fight. We must remember to be safe and stay alive in order to fight and strive for change because one must be alive to be heard and for it to happen. We must look out for one another because in the end we want to enjoy the fruits of the fight or in the least, leave the next generation with an AFRICA they are proud to call home because we did not keep quiet. Health is wealth and a living healthy body can achieve more than one in the grave.
Prioritise Life. Prioritise Africa. Speak up.
