FIGHTING FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS
The most powerful force in the universe is a parent protecting a child. If good people believe there are children in danger, they will stop at nothing to ensure that no harm comes to them”.
The Model Peace Forum Organisation has embarked on the journey of fighting for Human Rights and Protecting the environment. But what I find most crucial to the various campaigns being set up, is the fight for CHILDREN’S RIGHTS. And yes! I know a humanitarian does not get to choose the kind of rights they fight for but focusing on one particular goal at time is more effective than trying to fix it all at once and I strongly believe that empowering, protecting, educating and loving children is the way to go because it can create long term positive effects that could snowball into multiple successes that can solve many world problems failing us at the moment like world hunger, racism, sexual harassment, wars and many others.
Here’s where it gets interesting because you are probably wondering why or how this can be done so here goes. “Humanity’s greatest hope lies in stronger leadership through increased representation of young people by young people” and Research shows that children nurtured in a loving, safe and healthy environment tend to grow up to be better people and advocate for the good. Children raised in insufficiency of the aforementioned tend to spend most of the crucial parts of their lives re-living traumas that have damaged them most times to the core and therefore find it difficult to advocate for other people’s lives while fighting for their own wellbeing both externally and internally. Broken families, absent parenting, death, domestic violence, sexual abuse etc are some of the things the “supposed” parents do that cause children to have trauma for a lifetime. The homes in which they’re bred, a graveyard of buried hopes. I urge everyone in your different capacities, to fight and advocate for children’s rights because I believe children can be a force to reckon with when cared for.
