A LETTER TO MY BABY

A LETTER TO MY BABY

Baby, valentine’s around the corner
Got me thinking,
I don’t expect you to buy me flowers
I mean it’s cute and shit but
If you had to wait all that long to get me some, I don’t want them.
I might have a sweet tooth, but I don’t want chocolates either.
Wine would be great but it’s not the romantic effect I’m after.

This valentine’s, all I ask is
You keep up with the same energy we’ve had the past few months.
Don’t call my phone for I have bad reception in my closed off world.
Don’t text me, my inbox is way too full to receive new messages.
Don’t come looking for me, I’m probably not willing to be found.
Don’t use St. Valentine’s Day as an excuse to make up for your wrongs.

A bouquet of roses won’t erase the memory of you and her
A box of chocolates won’t make it sweeter
A bottle of wine may cloud my vision
Until it sips right into my mind and has me breaking on the floor.

I want the things money can’t buy
I want the broken promises
The never ending empty apologies
The hope for change you instilled but never fulfilled.
All I want for valentine’s is the promise of a man that was nothing but a façade.
